The WNC Center for Craft Artist in Residence program is a unique opportunity for artists to live and work in Asheville, North Carolina for three months. The program provides artists with studio space, a stipend, and access to the Center for Craft’s resources. Artists in residence also have the opportunity to participate in public programming and to exhibit their work.
Benefits of the program:
- Time and space to focus on their art: Residents receive a $10,000 honorarium and a $2,000 materials/professional development stipend, as well as daily access to a 200 square foot studio space and shared studio resources.
- Access to resources: Residents have access to the Center for Craft’s extensive library, collection, and archives.
- Opportunities for community engagement: Residents have the opportunity to participate in public programming and to exhibit their work.
Eligibility:
- Emerging and mid-career artists who are working in any craft medium are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be residents of Western North Carolina for 2 years.
- Applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience in their craft medium.

- The application deadline is December 15th.
- Applications must be submitted online.
- Applications must include a portfolio of work, a resume, and a letter of intent.
